Dr Mona Younes specialises in ‘Online Education’ and ‘Education in Emergencies’. She holds a master’s degree in Online Education, University of Southern Queensland, and a PhD, Lancaster University, in Education and Social Justice. Her expertise centres on the educational needs and challenges of refugees, including those residing in developing countries and the potential for blended and online learning to improve their lives. She has worked with international organizations including UNICEF, UNHCR, War Child Holland, and Plan International. This research involvement relates to the education of refugees in displacement settings, investigating the challenges and potentials of EdTech to empower marginalized populations and/or improve the efficiency of the educational systems. In 2020 Dr Mona founded ‘Beyond Borders,’ a US-based corporation that focuses on EiE and EdTech, particularly, in crisis and conflict contexts.
